Naz & Friends Spotlight: Tyrone Jackson
Over the next couple weeks, I’d like to introduce you to the band. Tyrone Jackson is a good friend and phenomenal musician, composer & arranger. He was one of the very first people I met at grad school when I transferred to GSU. In fact, we met at the GSU bookstore while searching for a foundations class book during our first semester back in 2011. I couldn’t imagine headlining at Churchill Grounds for the first time without Tyrone at the piano. Naz & Tyrone
Tyrone has a BA from the University of New Orleans & master’s degree from GSU. He studied privately with Ellis Marsalis and Mary Ann Bulla & has performed with Earl Klugh, Melba Moore, Wynton Marsalis, Wes Anderson, and Greg Dawson. Mr. Jackson also toured Italy & Austria with the UNO Jazz Band and to Brazil with Michael Ward. Tyrone is a Jazz Compostion Competition winner and a member of the Rialto Jazz Artist Foundation. In addition, he is a professor at KSU teaching music ranging from private piano instruction and jazz piano to jazz theory and improvisation. Learn more about Sam Skelton, the saxophonist I will also feature at Churchill Grounds as well as at VO Atlanta 2016.

It’s a Boy!
Well, our way overdue belated anniversary vacation to Puerto Rico became somewhat of a babymoon… It’s a Boy! The due date is June 1, 2016. Let’s celebrate! :)

I’m very excited to announce that I will headline Churchill Grounds, Atlanta’s legendary jazz café and live music hotspot next to the fabulous Fox Theatre, so mark your calendars for 2 Shows, ONE NIGHT ONLY on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 9p & 11p. Well, I have officially launched #NazLive on YouTube. My friend and big brother, Gerald Griffith of Voiceovercity & VO Atlanta, has been a supporter of my career since I met him when I moved to Atlanta. Gerald shared this kind note on Facebook at the beginning of my launch of #NazLive this week.
I’m very excited to share this video of Naz Fan Page showcasing one of her many skills. I’ve not met many people in my lifetime with such a pleasant spirit, dedication to working hard, and sheer talent.
I’ve had the honor of watching her continue to grow and develop over these past few years. I never cease to be amazed at her level of talent and dedication to her future and family.

The Band is Back!
I’ve been singing with Drive-By Big Band since 2011 when I first moved to Atlanta. This big band has Atlanta’s top jazz musicians. After a long hiatus this summer, the big band is now back together!
