The “Five P’s”
So you have to speak at an event….Remember the “Five P’s“:
1. Plan: Have a plan or “road map” of how you want to approach your speech. For example, where will you pause or what words will you emphasize?
2. Pace: If you Speak too fast, it sounds like you’re nervous, so use a moderate pace. Use pitch variety so you don’t sound monotone and so you can engage your audience.
3. Pitch: Vocal variety is great for engaging your audience. If your speaking pitch is too high all the time, you will sound nervous.
4. Pause: Build pauses sparingly in your speech, because a few well-timed pauses create a sense of intrigue and curiosity. In addition, they will sound more natural.
5. Passion: Love your topic, because passion is important and it’s the biggest selling point you have.
